Your puppy’s first visit to the groomers is an important milestone—and at Dogtown, we’re here to make it a calm, happy and confidence-building experience.

We recommend booking your puppy’s first grooming session at around 12–14 weeks old, once they are fully vaccinated. To support this early stage, we offer a dedicated Puppy Consultation service designed to gently introduce your pup to the grooming environment.

Why Early Grooming Matters

The grooming salon can feel overwhelming for young puppies—with new smells, loud dryers, buzzing clippers, and other unfamiliar dogs around. Our goal is to desensitise your puppy to these sounds and sensations in a gentle, positive way—laying the foundation for a stress-free grooming experience throughout their life.

Meet & Greet
A relaxed introduction to their groomer so your puppy feels safe and welcome.
Groom Room Orientation
We slowly introduce the sounds, smells, and sights of the grooming environment at your pup’s pace.
Feedback & Next Steps
We’ll talk you through how your pup responded and recommend the best grooming plan going forward—based on their coat type, confidence level, and lifestyle.
